October 21, Fineko/abc.az. To develop transportation along the Middle Corridor, it is proposed to create a regular feeder line between the ports of Turkmenbashi and Alat.

Elmir Poladov, deputy chairman of the Association of Freight Forwarders of Azerbaijan, CEO of U.F.E. Shipping, made the relevant statement at the EU-Azerbaijan 2026 Business Forum.

He added that amid the ongoing decline in the level of the Caspian Sea, dredging alone in ports is not enough, more extensive measures are needed. Sea level largely depends on the volume of water coming from the Volga, which is also decreasing.

Poladov noted that Turkmenistan has significant potential for development of the Middle Corridor, and the port of Turkmenbashi has the necessary infrastructure. He expressed hope that container cargo from China to Azerbaijan will be transported through this port.

He pointed out that it is necessary to build a container terminal in Turkmenbashi and organize regular feeder service to the port of Alat.
