October 19, Fineko/abc.az. In the first 9 months of 2026, 5.679 million tons of transit cargo were transported through the railway infrastructure of Azerbaijan.

According to Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, in the 3rd quarter, the transit traffic reached 2.134 million tons (a rise of 40.9% against Q1 and 5.1% versus Q2).

In the 3rd quarter, transit cargo made up 41.8% of overall volume of goods transported across the country, which indicates a significant increase compared to the 1st quarter, when this figure was 38%.

The rapid growth of transit traffic compared to overall cargo transportation testifies about strengthening of Azerbaijan's strategic positions in international transport corridors.
