TRACECA Secretary General: Digitalization and Timely Delivery Key to Middle Corridor's Reliability

14:33 - 21.10.2026

October 21, Fineko/abc.az. To enhance the efficiency of the Middle Corridor and attract larger cargo volumes, coordinated action among all involved border and transport agencies is vital, TRACECA Secretary General Zasurbek Choriev stated at the EU-Azerbaijan Business Forum.

Choriev emphasized that border delays, port bottlenecks, or data gaps weaken the corridor's competitive edge, as cargo senders prioritize precise delivery timelines over cost alone.

He also highlighted a recent agreement signed under TRACECA between six nations (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine) introducing a unified electronic transit permit. Managed via a web portal, this digital system facilitates multimodal transport and eliminates the need for separate paper permits in each transit country.
