October 20, Fineko/abc.az. The cargo transportation by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC (ADY) in the 3rd quarter of 2026 reached the highest level since the beginning of the year.

In the 3rd quarter, the company transported 5.1 million tons of cargo (6.6% more versus Q2 and 27.9% more against Q1).

In the 1st quarter of the year, 3.988 million tons of cargo were transported and in the 2nd quarter - 4.785 million tons.

Thus, in the first 9 months of 2026, the total volume of cargo transportation by ADY reached 13.874 million tons.

Of the cargoes transported in the 3rd quarter, 2.359 million tons accounted for international import-export shipments, 2.134 million tons for transit shipments, and 606,500 tons for domestic shipments.

The main role in the growth of cargo transportation was played by international and transit transportation.

Thus, compared to the 1st quarter, in the 3rd quarter, the transit traffic increased by 40.9% and the volume of international import and export traffic by 24.7%. At that, growth in domestic traffic was only 4.3%.
