October 19, Fineko/abc.az. Over Jan-Sept 2026, Azerbaijan exported 240.578 million tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) for $81.843 million.

The State Customs Committee informs that compared with Jan-Sept 2025, the value of exported products grew by 8%, while its volume declined by 28.6%.

The share of methyl alcohol in the export of the main non-oil products of Azerbaijani origin was 2.86%. The share of methanol in primary forms in total exports reached 0.41%.

Methanol is produced at the methanol plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), located in Garadagh district of Baku. The plant was put into operation in 2013, and since 2016 it has been operating under the management of SOCAR's subsidiary, SOCAR Metanol LLC. In August 2017, the company became the property of this company.

The production capacity of the enterprise is 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol per year. Natural gas and desalinated water are used as raw materials.
