12:10 - 15.10.2026

October 15, Fineko/abc.az. In the 1st half of this year, there was a dual trend in the capital position of the Azerbaijani banking sector.

CBA Financial Stability Department’s director Atakhan Hasanov said this at a press conference devoted to the semi-annual Financial Stability Report of the regulator.

He added that the capital allowed both to increase banks' ability to cover potential losses and to support market expansion.

"The total capital of the sector has reached 7 billion manats, which is 600 million manats more than on July 1, 2025. The capital adequacy ratio was 17.7%. The current capital position allows us to support an additional increase in the sector's risk-weighted assets by 20.1 billion manats," he said.

Hasanov also said that from January 1, 2027, it is planned to bring capital requirements in line with Basel III standards. According to Hasanov, the updated system of capital requirements will further strengthen the financial stability of the banking sector.
