German Green Energy Supplier Grüüün to Cease Operations Affecting 200,000 Customers

16:12 - 13.10.2026

October 13, Fineko/abc.az. German green electricity provider "Grüüün" (part of Münch Energie Group) has announced it will terminate its retail power supply across Germany effective October 31, 2026. Launched in 2024 with a model offering long-term price guarantees of up to 10 years for renewable energy, the company is pulling the plug due to shifting regulatory conditions.

The company attributed its decision to legislative changes, including Germany's upcoming Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG 2027) overhaul, government focus on gas-fired generation, and rising grid charges, which disrupted its long-term pricing structure.

Around 200,000 residential customers must transition to alternative power suppliers by November 1.
