September 25, Fineko/abc.az. Within the Azerbaijan International Investment Forum, the Executive Authority of Aghstafa district and Swiss company iCsquared GmbH signed a cooperation document on the project of creating Swiss-Azerbaijani plantations and ABAK-WASSERSTEIN processing plants.
The project envisages not only the cultivation of agricultural products, but also for the creation of a complete production chain - from cultivation to processing.
As part of the project, various varieties of asparagus, imported from the USA and tested, were planted on a plantation in the village of Dagh Kesemen in Agstafa district. Deliveries of fresh green asparagus to local retail chains have already begun.
The project also provides for involvement of local farmers in the production process and introduction of new technologies, which is expected to contribute to employment growth in the region and the formation of a large agricultural cluster.
iCsquared GmbH, which has chosen Baku as a regional center for operations in the CIS countries, is also implementing other agricultural projects in Azerbaijan, including peanut processing and hazelnut exports.
The favorable geographical and logistical position of the Agstafa district creates opportunities for the supply of manufactured products to both domestic and foreign markets.
