October 22, Fineko/abc.az. The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan plans to complete the digitalization process within the next one to two years.

Nurlan Soltanov, the head of the MoF Department of Modern Technologies & Innovations, said this at the Baku conference on the theme "Digital Financial Ecosystem: A New Stage in Governance".

According to the minister, digitalization involves not only the introduction of electronic systems within the Ministry, but also the establishment of data exchange with other government agencies.

"In a short time, we have provided information exchange in various formats with 20 governmental agencies. Without receiving this data, we would have faced many difficulties in providing e-services and information. Therefore, we would like to express our special gratitude to other government agencies that cooperate with us and facilitate data exchange. Even if our systems are fully functional, other agencies often also have to improve their systems in accordance with our requirements and provide the necessary information," Soltanov said.

He added that over the past year, the pace of development has accelerated significantly: many systems are already ready and put into operation. However, digitalization cannot be considered as a project with a deadline, as systems are constantly being improved, new requirements and additional functions are emerging.

In particular, work is underway to introduce consolidated financial statements provided for by accounting legislation, as well as to increase transparency of expenses.

At the first stage, the procurement process was launched for organizations funded from the state budget. Then the institutions that needed it were connected to the system. The next step will be to ensure that consolidated financial statements can be generated.

"All this work is being carried out in stages. We expect that as soon as possible, at best within the next one or two years, we will be able to fully provide the relevant opportunities," Soltanov noted.
