October 20, Fineko/abc.az. In his article titled "Energy Policy of Modern Azerbaijan: From National Energy Security to Global Energy Partnership" published in the "Azerbaijan" newspaper, Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov highlighted the strategic importance of regional electricity interconnections.

The minister noted that the Caspian-Black Sea-Europe Green Energy Corridor is a flagship project that will connect Azerbaijan and Georgia via the Black Sea bed to Romania, Hungary, and other European markets. Stretching approximately 3,000 kilometers, the corridor is designed to reach a transmission capacity of 4 gigawatts phased incrementally.

The project will enable the creation of at least 8 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity in the region, supplying roughly 20 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually to Europe starting from 2040, while reducing carbon emissions by up to 3.6 million tons per year.
