August 28, Fineko/abc.az. Despite recent positive economic signals, the number of unemployed in Germany remained above the 3 million mark in August due to ongoing stagnation in the labor market.
According to data released by the Federal Employment Agency (BA), the number of unemployed rose by 54,000 compared to the previous month and by 36,000 compared to the same month last year, reaching 3.061 million. Consequently, the unemployment rate increased from 6.4% in July to 6.5% in August.
Andrea Nahles, head of the Federal Employment Agency, noted that the labor market showed no significant momentum in August beyond traditional seasonal effects. Experts attribute the steady rise in unemployment to broader economic weakness alongside seasonal factors.
