Reuters reports, citing a source in the region, that this initiative has already been approved at the regional level. The main feature is that Tehran does not intend to establish sole control over the strait. According to a Reuters source, the Malacca Strait is being used as a model: users of this route voluntarily contribute funds that are used to ensure navigation, protect the environment, and conduct search and rescue missions.
