Gold Slips to $4,164 Amid Firm Dollar and Upcoming US Inflation Data

11:07 - 13.10.2026

October 13, Fineko/abc.az. Spot gold prices fell 0.2% to $4,164.45 per ounce on Tuesday as a strong US dollar holding near 18-month highs and investor caution ahead of key US CPI and PPI inflation reports weighed on the precious metal. US gold futures for December delivery dropped 0.1% to $4,187.90 per ounce.

Market expectations tracked by the CME FedWatch tool show a 21% probability of a Fed rate hike this month and an 88% likelihood in December. Meanwhile, escalating Middle East risks—highlighted by recent missile strikes in Saudi Arabia—failed to offset dollar-driven headwinds.

Other precious metals also declined: spot silver shed 0.5% to $60.01 per ounce, platinum fell to $1,682.47, and palladium dropped to $1,137.69.
