October 6, Fineko/abc.az. US-based AI startup Reflection AI, backed by Nvidia and founded by former Google DeepMind researchers, has unveiled its first open-weight model named "Beam." Featuring a total of 501 billion parameters, the model is specifically optimized for advanced software coding, reasoning, and complex agentic tasks.

Designed to compete with lower-cost open Chinese models such as DeepSeek, Kimi, and GLM-5.2, "Beam" delivers comparable performance while requiring 3 to 4 times less compute during inference.

Set to be released under the open Apache 2.0 license later this month, the model aims to offer global enterprise clients and sovereign entities an efficient, independent Western alternative for open AI deployment.
